The Aesthetics of War

Why:

In recent years aesthetics has increasingly been militarized. Fictions of various kinds have come to pervade warfare. But what role do they play? We will examine this development and build an aesthetic framework in order to give us a better understanding of late modern warfare.

How:

We will examine both the collaboration between military, cultural, and academic institutions and the artworks who have reacted to the militarization of aesthetics.

What:

In light of the transformation of warfare in the 21st century, an aesthetic perspective on its new forms seems more relevant than ever.
