Research Stay at Project Narrative at Ohio State University

Forskningsinfrastruktur

Summary

This infrastructure grant funds a stay at Project Narrative at Ohio State University (US) whose team of researchers will be key collaborators in the finalizing of a larger monograph on the topic of "Strange Narratives in Rhetorical Discourse." The project investigates the forms and functions of non-conventional or strange storytelling techniques in contemporary public discourse.

Fueled by developments brought on by digital networked media, strategies normally reserved to experimental art are becoming part of how actual issues are debated: NGO campaigns combine invented and real states of affairs in ways that leave the audience in doubt; political candidates interweave cartoon characters with professional personas; climate debaters tell stories about future worlds.
