Summary The International Symposium on Aquatic Plants is held by the International Aquatic Plants Group (IAPG), which is comprised of researchers, scientists and practitioners who are based at universities and research organizations throughout the world. The IAPG is an interest group whose members specialize in all aspects of aquatic plant science, including botany, genetics, ecology, physiology, conservation and management. The aim of the symposium is to exchange newest research results and ideas. A main theme is restoration and conservation of degraded aquatic ecosystems in the light of global changes such as climate and landuse changes. Around the world communities are facing similar problems in this respect, and knowledge exchange is key to move forward on a global scale.
