Flemming Besenbacher appointed Co-Chair of the 13th Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2019

From 1-3 July Professor Flemming Besenbacher, Chairman of Carlsberg Group and the Carlsberg Foundation, will be in Dalian, China, for the Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2019 held by the World Economic Forum.

The Annual Meeting of the New Champions (AMNC) selects each year a group of leaders from the world’s most innovative and visionary organizations to serve as Co-Chairs, and this year Flemming Besenbacher has been appointed Co-Chair. The Meeting takes place from 1-3 July and there will be more than 100 working sessions and community activities, along with the opportunity to engage in several new initiatives by the World Economic Forum. More than 1,500 leaders from business, government and academia are expected to attend.

Co-Chairs are trusted partners in the design, development and delivery of the meeting and contribute to the agenda. Other Co-Chairs of the AMNC thid year are Enass Abo-Hamed of Imperial College, Supachai Chearavanont of Charoen Pokphand (CP) Group, Alain Dehaze of the Adecco Group, Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi of the United Arab Emirates, Ning Gaoning of Sinochem, Charles Li of HKEX and Jessica Tan of Ping An Technology.

During the AMNC, Flemming Besenbacher will focus mostly on circular economy and climate, responsible leadership, and science and innovation, and he will be speaking in several sessions around these themes. Flemming Besenbacher will also speak at a breakfast session about science and business with the Young Scientists Community of the World Economic Forum.

“I am very honored to have been appointed Co-Chair of the Annual Meeting of the New Champions. I am particularly keen on being Co-Chair at the meeting in China. China is Carlsberg's largest single market in volume terms, and it is a country that I feel a close relation to being honorary doctor at 16 Chinese universities and member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences,” says Flemming Besenbacher.
