In 2021, the Carlsberg Foundation has launched the "Vision 2050" initiative. The goal of the initiative is to create a new vision for Denmark’s future.

There is a need to map out a shared path for Danish society. The Carlsberg Foundation has therefore launched the Vision 2050 initiative, which will culminate in a proposed new vision for Denmark. The ambition is to pave the way for solutions for the future based on sound knowledge, creative imagination, multidisciplinarity and well-founded views.
The initiative was inspired by the discussions that took place through the 1950s and 1960s between politicians, artists, scientists and businesspeople, which became the basis for the development of the welfare society in the 20th century. At that time, the close dialogue across sectors and disciplines aimed to define what characterises “the good society”.
The Carlsberg Foundation has brought together a range of representatives of various sectors for debates and discussions that will culminate in an ambitious but realistic vision for Denmark. This vision will be presented to the Danish government, leading Danish interest organisations and the wider Danish public.
The participating representatives were individually chosen based on their knowledge within a specific area across business, science, research, education, art and civil society.
Why "Vision 2050"?
Since 1876, the Carlsberg Foundation has been brewing knowledge for an enlightened future, and the Foundation’s mission includes strengthening enlightenment and education as well as seizing the opportunities in change. At the same time, multidisciplinarity and synergy across the various social spheres have always been an important part of the wider Carlsberg family’s DNA.
With "Vision 2050", the Carlsberg Foundation aspires to lay the foundations for futureproofing our fantastic Danish welfare society so that we are fully prepared to overcome future challenges and consolidate the prosperity of the Denmark we know today.
Partners in Vision 2050
The Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies and consultancy firm Voluntas are close partners in Vision 2050 and responsible for facilitating interviews, discussions and meetings as well as the ongoing work of formulating and activating the final vision for Denmark in the year 2050.
