13 International Congress on the Archaeology of the Ancient Near East

The 13 International Congress on the Archaeology of the Ancient Near East takes palce in Copenhagen in May 2023. In the congress more than 650 scientific results are presented making the congress the largest international event of the discipline. News from field work in Mesopotamia and surrounding countries are presented. Main themes are addressed such as sustainability. The long cultural history of the Near East can contribute to a better understanding of the relation between environment and human beeings. An other main theme concerns the inclusion of the local population during field work in order to raise awareness and appreciation of cultural heritage eventually reducing the riscs of harm to cultural heritage as we have experienced it during the past decades with armed conflicts.
