Applications for this funding instrument are assessed according to the following criteria:
Application
- To what extent is the application written such that it is accessible to non-experts?
Eligibility
- To what extent does the project meet the purpose of the grant type and fulfil the three prerequisites stated in the call?
Research contribution
- To what extent is the project original with the potential to lead to scientific breakthroughs?
- To what extent is it clear how the proposed research will advance/extend/challenge international research?
Quality of approach
- To what extent is the proposed scientific approach of high international quality?
- To what extent are the methods and theoretical approach of the highest standard for the project?
Feasibility
- To what extent is the project plan realistic?
- To what extent is the budget well-justified?
- To what extent are there significant risk factors that may prevent project execution?
Potential impact
- To what extent is the proposed research likely to lead to breakthroughs with major long-term impact on science and society?
Applicant
- To what extent does the applicant have a strong research profile and the relevant experience for leading the project?
