Summary
In March 2020, the Centre for Medieval Literature (University of Southern Denmark, Odense) will host the first international conference ever devoted to Isaac Comnenus Porphyrogenitus (1093-after 1152). Isaac is a so far neglected, and yet extremely intriguing, member of the Comnenian dynasty, which ruled the Byzantine Empire for almost a century (1081-1180). This conference will focus on the interplay between the intellectual and political activities of Isaac and is part of the http://cml.sdu.dk/about/research CML research strand devoted to imperial languages. The project is co-financed by the Centre for Medieval Literature (CML) and the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF), and conducted by Dr. Valeria F. Lovato
