Summary

Metabolic rate is the pace at which energy is used to function. Large organisms have lower metabolic rates for their size than small ones, but there is variation among individuals and species in how metabolic rate scales with size. The origin and extent of this variation is much debated. This meeting will join experts and early-career researchers to discuss metabolic scaling and advance the field.
