Summary
When we experience pleasure, it's due to a boost of dopamine in the brain’s reward center. Cocaine hijacks this system, increasing dopamine without any real reward, making all experiences feel rewarding. By solving the molecular interplay between cocaine and the affected proteins we aim to elucidate the mechanisms behind this response, why it leads to increase in dopamine and ultimately addiction.
