Summary
East Greenlandic hot springs reaching water temperatures of >45-62 degrees C harbor purely microbial biofilm communities, and a special flora thrives in the mild microclimate surrounding the springs. Yet these unique ecosystems remain almost unexplored. The expedition provides detailed mapping, description and sampling of the hottest springs on Greenland and will also scout for novel hot springs.
