Summary
We study microbes in low-biomass environments like the seafloor and the atmosphere, where they impact Earth's climate and human health. The new Illumina Miseq i100 DNA sequencing system will allow for accurate, flexible, and cost-efficient identification of the microbes present in these challenging environments, which is an indispensable step towards understanding their distribution and function.
