Summary
The release of the greenhouse gas methane to the environment as a result of human activity is of increasing concern. As some release of methane will be unavoidable, technologies that can capture and transform the compound is of high interest. We have surprisingly found that cyclodextrins can bind the green house gas methane. This is interesting because this may lead to materials that can capture and remove methane. The instruments awarded by the Carlsberg Foundation will make it possible for us to study the binding in detail which is necessary for the research.
