Resumé
The aim of the research project is to acquire basic knowledge guiding the development of resilient crop plants for the future withstanding the effects of rapid and extreme climatic changes. Key crops studied are barley and sorghum. The focus is on elucidation and optimization of the roles of the diverse set of bioactive natural products the crops are producing The study is carried out using genetic and molecular tools as well as mutants produced at the Carlsberg Research Laboratory using digital mutant identification based on the droplet digital polymerase chain reaction and identification of the natural products and their metabolic recycling products using the granted liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry ion-trap instrument.
