Just as alluring as instructive. Henrik Steffens Concept of Nature in Science, Humanities and Arts around 1800

The aim of the conference is to contribute substantially to the current understanding of Steffens as a natural researcher and philosopher by showcasing and investigating the importance of his work. In particular, this is to be achieved through lectures (in English and German) about Steffens’ appropriation of and contribution to the natural sciences, the humanities, and the arts. It is important to pursue Steffens’ concept of nature and its founding role in all other areas of knowledge. We wish to situate Steffens within an emerging European framework of scholars and shed light on the intellectual relationship between Scandinavia, Germany, and Russia.
