Resumé

Understanding the genome of complex organisms is of key importance. Novel third-generation sequencing technologies is needed to push the scientific frontiers to uncover novel genetic and cellular mechanisms. With generous support from the Carlsberg Foundation, we will now be able to acquire a novel, state-of-the art Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT) long-read sequencing machine, which will enable us to unravel novel and previously undiscovered genetic traits, genome biology and cellular mechanisms. Due to the versatility of this technology, we will be able to analyse both complex genetic patterns, DNA methylation and RNA isoforms in simple and complex model organisms and humans.
