Resumé
One of the most dramatic technological demonstrations of the last 20 years have been the use of quantum physics to improve certain technologies including sensing, communication and computing. By harnessing the laws of quantum physics in carefully orchestrated ways, it becomes possible to boost the capabilities of these classical technologies. A central component in quantum technologies is the continued improvements in the materials used to fabricate the quantum devices. This project is focused on using a dedicated ultra-clean materials system to fabricate so-called superconducting quantum technologies. An example of the technology enabled by this project is superconducting quantum computing, currently a leading platform for constructing quantum computers.
