Investigations of sedimentary processes down to the nano-scale: rocks, fossils and modern microbes

The study of sedimentary rocks and fossils in Geology, and of modern microbes and their interactions with the environment in Geobiology, requires the use of Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) for illustrations, quantitative analysis, and/or for basic elemental mapping. Our new SEM will allow us to produce top-quality illustrations of fossils and minerals in rocks, as well as modern microbial interactions, as well as to map out chemical elements of mineral grains.
