Resumé
"Biomass firing in retrofitted power plants accounted for about 50% of the renewable energy produced in Denmark in 2020, and this share is projected to increase even more in the coming years. However, in such power plants the biomass combustion generates flue gas, which demands undesirable costly and energy intense operation for catalytic cleaning of harmful pollutants like NOx. Thus, next generation catalysts are highly desirable to facilitate more sustainable energy production. The current research infrastructure grant will allow establishing a state-of-the-art facility to develop and assess new catalysts for efficient flue gas cleaning in sustainable energy production with biomass as well as other applications within environmental catalysis."
