Dimensions of Dramaturgy

The topic of the sixth conference of the European Association for the Study of Theatre and Performance is Dimensions of Dramaturgy. It will address the ongoing expansion and development of the concept of dramaturgy and interrogate the related changes in institutional, artistic and intellectual practices. From its traditional reference to the composition of the dramatic text, dramaturgy has come to signify the ways in which theatre and other cultural practices organizes action, both in the context of the performance as cultural event and work of art, and in terms of how the theatre as institution and field of practice organizes relations to and in society through curatorial practices, production modes, audience development, casting and staffing, branding and profiling, funding etc.
