Resumé

Microbial biofilms are in the key role in degrading nutrients and organic matter in aquaculture environment, but can also harbor harmful microbes, such as producers of toxic hydrogen sulfide gas. For understanding the dynamics between beneficial and harmful microbial processes, a precise and sensitive method to map microbial metabolic substrates and products in biofilms is needed. Exactly this will be enabled by the infrastructure grant from the Carlsberg Foundation through the acquisition of an advanced motorized microprofiler setup.
