The Constant Participant: Constructing and Affirming Identity through Material Culture in Ancient Greek Sanctuaries and Modern Museums.

The conference investigates how objects were produced and then presented first in ancient Greek sanctuaries and then later in modern museum, in order to create and present history and identity, for both individual visitors and large communities, such as families, cities and nations. Objects tell stories, and how we choose to present them shapes our understanding of ourselves and our surroundings.
