Marine heatwaves in polar ecosystems are increasing, with unknown consequences for the food web efficiency and carbon sequestration - the ecosystem services that we human depend on. We will investigate the effects of heatwaves on the functional diversity and production of zooplankton - the basis of the polar marine food web - at the sub-polar Pacific with intensive and frequent marine heatwaves.
