Integrating Electrical and Mechanical Properties in Large Animal Hearts

To better understand the mechanisms of heart diseases, we aim at establishing how the heart’s electrical function modify its pumping function, and vice versa. These insights potentially enable the design of new treatments for heart diseases. We will make use of an advanced technology permitting hearts from large animals (e.g. pig, sheep) to continue beating after having been explanted.
