While EU requires many private firms to purchase an annual audit or attestation, firms may purchase additional services from their auditor. Other firms voluntarily purchase audits. It is therefore challenging to measure what value auditing services add to businesses and overall economic development. We analyze turnover of audit partners due to sudden illness to measure value added by auditors.
