Female eco-rebels in contemporary Icelandic literature and film and the role of place attachment in environmental engagement

The project explores the role of emotions for environmental engagement as represented in Icelandic literature and film set in rural areas. More specifically, the concept of ‘eco-happiness’ is introduced to elucidate how the emotional bond between person and place influences well-being and motivates environmental action. The project contributes to the eudemonic turn in environmental humanities.
