The Long History of the Ancient Greek Novel

This book seeks to rewrite the early history of the novel by focusing on the ancient Greek novel and its influence on modern literary history. First I will demonstrate how the novel emerged as a genre with the rise of networks connecting the Roman empire with Persia and India, and, second, I will discuss how the genre was reinvented during Europe's global expansion in the 16th and 17th centuries.
