Muscle mitochondrial coupling in man after very prolonged fasting

We use muscle biopsy samples from ten young and ten old trained men obtained before and after 84 hours of fasting to study how efficient isolated mitochondria work. Based on a unique state of the art lipidomics analysis in Melbourne we can address if the lipid composition of the muscle mitochondria may contribute to explain a changed efficiency after very prolonged fasting.
