Building capacity to boost study of basic mechanisms of neurodegeneration and pain

We study the molecular basis of peripheral neuropathy, a frequent side effect to chemotherapy. It causes sensory disturbances and pain in many cancer patients that is untreatable. We utilize advanced molecular methods to study the underlying mechanisms of this side effect. This can be used to develop novel drugs and provides novel insight into basic mechanisms of neuronal damage and pain.
