Opening the attosecond frontier by tailoring the electric field of ultrashort light pulses

Light is associated with an oscillating electric field, but the effect of individual field oscillations has not previously been experimentally accessible. This requires a recently developed short-pulse laser, where the electric field is precisely controlled. This grant will establish such a laser in Denmark, enabling investigations of attosecond dynamics in several research groups.
