From Permafrost to Clouds: Microbial Sources of Arctic Ice-Nucleating Particles

This project will explore how Arctic soil microbes influence cloud formation and climate. By uncovering which fungi produce proteins that trigger ice in clouds and how these proteins are released from thawing permafrost, we aim to reduce major uncertainties in Arctic climate predictions and improve future global climate models.
