The aim of this book is to create a new foundation for aesthetics by taking seriously real-life experiences with works of art. It takes visual art as example and explores how it evokes our emotional life. It grants primacy to experience – historical and contemporary – and lays an experiential foundation for the development of aesthetic theory.
