Purpose
The purpose of Research Infrastructure is to provide funding for the procurement of research infrastructure for addressing key scientific questions in the field that could not otherwise be investigated.
Who?
The applicant must hold a tenured position as associate professor, senior researcher, professor WSR, research professor, or professor at one or more Danish, Greenlandic, or Faroese research institutions.
Eligible research institutions are:
- Universities
- State-owned museums
- State-approved museums that apply the research career structure used by state-owned museums
- Sector research institutions
- Institutions of artistic higher education
- VIVE, DIIS, GEUS, the Defence Academy, the Danish Institute in Rome, the Danish Institute in Athens, provided that they apply the research career structure used by universities.
The following institutions are not eligible:
- Hospitals
- University Colleges
What?
The minimum amount that can be applied for is DKK 300,000. There is no maximum amount.
Projects must start no earlier than 1 January 2027 and no later than 1 September 2027.
The requested budget may include multiple items, provided that these together constitute a well-justified research infrastructure relevant to the scientific aims of the project. Applications where the requested amount appears primarily driven by the minimum funding threshold may be given lower priority.
Funding may only be requested for the purchase of equipment or apparatus, as well as for access to international facilities, including subscription fees for a specific period.
Submitting a large number of uncoordinated applications from the same department or research environment may negatively affect the overall prioritisation.
It is not possible to apply for funding for salaries or core facilities.

Basic research is curiosity-driven experimental or theoretical work undertaken with the primary purpose of acquiring new knowledge of the underlying foundations of phenomena and observable facts.
