Resumé

In the 20th century, death and birth took centre stage in discussions of the human condition. Recent debates concerning the anthropocene have drawn attention to a further central dimension of our shared existential situation. We now acknowledge that our lives do not take place against the backdrop of infinite nature, rather we cohabitate and share the environmental "life-support system" of one, limited planet Earth. At the Centre for the Study of Ethics and Community at Aarhus University, we wish with this international conference to bring together scholars from different disciplines to discuss what this realization means for the ethics of sharing. What forms of ethical life do these horizons afford, and how do they relate to sharing as an interpersonal practice?
