Beta-Carotene as a biosignature – studying its persistence, degradation kinetics, and products

I will study the degradation of beta-carotene, a potential biosignature, to aid the search for life on Mars. Using a unique Mars simulation chamber, I replicate Martian radiation, pressure, atmosphere, and temperature. The findings will help interpret data from current and future Mars missions.
